1835 Original Portrait of G. Foote Leathatt. Original oil painting a classic portrait of the gentleman, G. Foote Leathatt. We cannot find anything regarding this individual but on verso affixed to canvas is and handwritten note on laid paper that reads "Intended for the likeness of G. Foote Leathatt by Ramsey July 16, 1835. Oil on canvas 14 x 10½" framed in gilt wood to 19 x 16". Painting very well done, exhibiting minor crazing given its 181 years. Estimate Value $400 - 600

An exceptional, original illustration signed Colman, for an automotive publication in the UK of the beautiful 1934 MG K3 Magnette. Exceptional detail and perspective on this classic vintage automobile that won the Mille Miglia open road endurance race in Italy that just celebrated its 90th anniversary and 35th modern edition this year. Original handpainted commercial illustration art is exploding in value given especially that such artistry has been supplanted by photography and digital rendering. The detail in this illustration is terrific with every part of the car masterfully rendered, the gleam off the chrome and paint flawless. Board measures 15 x 20" and save for soft corners is in excellent condition. Would present beautifully if framed. Estimate Value $1,000 - 1,500

Accidental Tourist Gil Elvgren Oil on Canvas Recreation by Daniel Vancas. Gil Elvgren (1914-1980) remains one of the most popular American pin-up artists in history with his original pieces now commanding upwards to $250,000. Daniel Vancas, a well established California artist, illustrator and gallery owner, obtained the licenses to recreate a certain few of Elvgren pieces mostly those destroyed, lost or unavailable. Offered here is an original oil on canvas recreation, painted in 1997 entitled "Accidental Tourist". Here Elvgren (Vancas) captures a leggy, blue-eyed red head, sitting on her three-piece matched luggage, and absolutely the ideal Elvgren pin-up model. Did she leave early for the station or waiting for someone? Is she a bit wistful or dust in her eye? Actual canvas measures 30 x 24" and framed to 37 x 31". Typical with retablos of this age, there are bends at edges, some wear and light rusting. The face on the Madonna is quite lovely, the child does have paint loss but overall still a lovely piece. Hom, George, "Portrait of a Young Woman" Exquisite Miniature ca. 1900 (1838-1911) George Hom studied at the Staedelisch Institute under Jakob Becker (1853-1864), and was active in Frankfurt and from 1876 in Berlin. He proved a very popular portraitist and genre painter, and was especially noted for his paintings with candlelight effects. He regularly exhibited at annual shows in Frankfurt, Berlin, and Munich "Portrait of a Young Woman" (ca. 1900), the delicate likeness rendered in a stipple technique, which lends an airiness and feeling of light to the young woman's gaze. Signed at left, "HOM." Mounted as a gilt metal oval miniature painting, in excellent condition and comes in its original leather (worn but sound) and velvet traveling case/frame.

Poland's Anna and Andy Orlinski, are known the world over for their historic maritime paintings and have proven time and again to be one of this auction house's most popular artists. No doubt their appeal lies in their consistent dramatic renderings and astounding attention to detail of significant naval battles in history. Here in this utterly compelling scene of battle, the French 32 gun frigate La Prudente with La Cybéle attempted to break the British blockade engaging the HMS Centurion and the HMS Diomede in October of 1794. Madame Queen Hawley H. Riley, 1946 Original Illustrated Art of Athcheson Topeka & Santa Fe. Hawley Riley, post WWII artist worked in New York City and found some success in commercial art and illustration for magazines and corporate use. After several years he left NYC and moved to the Midwest and taught commercial art in University. Offered here is an oil on canvas of the famed Atcheson Topeka Santa Fe locomotive and nicknamed "Madame Queen". Train was donated at the end of service to the city of Amarillo, Texas where she still stands proudly. Painting measures 23 x 19" and remains in excellent condition. His recreations are quite accomplished in capturing the flirtatious play of Elvgren's command of color. Offered here is an original acrylic and watercolor recreation created in 1998 of a leggy policewoman blowing the whistle on "no sparking" evidently in the 40s slang for kissing. Later it was also slang for smoking marijuana. It works two ways!
